New site in Kesley offers future opportunities
(KESLEY, Iowa) May 31, 2018 –Landus Cooperative today announced a $1.2 million grain asset project on the edge of Kesley, Iowa in Butler County.
The farmer-owned cooperative has signed a land purchase agreement for 20 acres one mile east of Kesley on 270th street (an east/west blacktop). The company will build a new receiving leg, conveyor, bunker, and scale house.
The site will include a 20,000 per hour receiving pit. The company is bringing in a bunker to hold more than 1.3 million bushels, significantly increasing on-site storage.
“We want to thank our area customers for their commitment to Landus Cooperative,” explained Scott Anderson, region general manager for Landus Cooperative in its northeast territory.
“Growers in Butler County continue to bring in trendline yield crops and have been asking for faster receiving and more modern facilities,” Anderson added. “We are proud that this project can be one step in the right direction for them. We are committed to doing business in Butler County today and into the future.”
The company stated that the purchase of 20 acres today allows the company the opportunity to expand with upright grain storage bins or agronomy infrastructure should grower demand warrant future growth.
The project is slated for completion during Harvest 2018.
