40-year Industry Veteran to Champion Efforts for Customer Experience and Elite Warehousing
Landus today announced Don King recently joined the farmer-owned cooperative as Executive Vice President, Grain. In his role, King oversees grain operations at 60 locations in 26 counties to grow farmer origination, enhance operational efficiency, and expand merchandising. He oversees domestic and international end-user marketing relationships for the cooperative, which is the seventh-largest grain company in North America based on storage capacity.
“With Don’s focus on the farmer-owners’ experience, he is driving our grain team to look across the entire supply chain, --from food to energy to industrial uses—to find opportunities that bring value to our growers and in return, to our rural communities,” said Landus CEO, Matt Carstens. “It’s a challenging marketplace; Landus’ grain team works to have a market solution for every situation.”
Carstens noted Landus’ role as the only agri-business in Iowa with access to all seven rail lines as an opportunity for grain merchandising expansion.
King joins Landus from Michlig Grain, where he worked his way up from operations to the owner at the full-service grain and agronomy business in northwest Illinois. In his nearly 40 years in the agricultural industry, he has been revered by his employees, puts a strong focus on the customer experience, and is entrepreneurial in his business approach. King holds a degree in Agri-Business from Black Hawk East College.
