Following yesterday’s dust explosion, the head house of the Landus Jefferson grain elevator has started on fire. This is a normal occurrence for this type of situation. The local fire department is on hand to monitor and manage the situation. The location is secure and does not pose a threat to public safety.

An initial investigation following today’s dust explosion at the Landus Jefferson facility has identified smoldering grain in a self-contained bin located next to the grain elevator. A salvage company specializing in extinguishing grain is expected onsite this afternoon to safely remove the grain from the bin.
There was a dust explosion at the Landus Jefferson location at approximately 8:00 am this morning, Friday, May 14 resulting in property damage. All employees are accounted for and there were no injuries. Local fire and emergency services are onsite and the situation is contained and under control. An investigation into the cause of the incident will be conducted.
