Location Lead Jeff Mason is proof that with dedication and hard work, the growth opportunities at Landus are endless.
Jeff started as an Operations Intern in Earlham at legacy location Farmer’s Cooperative.
After finishing his associate degree in Ag Chem Technology at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, he joined the cooperative full-time in 2000 working in outside operations at Yale. He then served as an interim location manager at Linden, as well as a tender truck driver and customer applicator at Perry throughout the years.
After taking a year and a half off for his family, Jeff returned in 2007 as the Agronomy Logistics Coordinator for legacy West Central in Jefferson, eventually becoming the Agronomy Operations Manager in 2012.
When Landus was formed in 2016, Jeff took the role of Location Manager for Bayard and Coon Rapids locations and later Dedham. Recent changes at Landus have furthered his presence at Bayard as Location Lead.
Throughout his many different positions, he says every day offers up a new challenge and is a new experience. With so many different opportunities and things to do at a cooperative, there’s always something to learn and take away.
“The stakes are high when your purpose is to serve your farmer-owners to help them do the most they can. Always continue learning so you can serve them best,” says Jeff.
He enjoys building relationships with his co-workers and working together on the challenge of finding new solutions to improve efficiency. They are always having conversations of how to improve service for their customers and use all their available resources - like repurposing equipment from closed locations.
“It’s really rewarding to hear good things from our customers and to know that we’re helping them,” says Jeff.
