ATLANTIC, IA (Nov. 3)—Landus Cooperative recently hosted United States Congressman David Young and Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey here for a tour and employee meeting on agricultural issues.
The discussion included impacts of federal regulations on cooperative operations; the need to grow opportunities for export markets via international trade; and voluntary nutrient management programs being put in place by area farmers and the cooperative itself.
“We appreciate Congressman Young and Secretary Northey discussing the issues that most impact our business and that of our producers,” said Brad Woodard, area operations manager.
Landus Cooperative has 14 grain, agronomy and/or feed manufacturing locations in the Congressman’s district. The visit by Young and Northey was part of a two-day agricultural cooperative tour.
“There are many tough issues facing the agricultural sector and we look forward to working with Congressman Young and his team in promoting what’s best for Iowa’s farmers, our members, and our employees across the state,” added Woodard.
Following the meeting, Jeremiah Thompson, location manager, and Scott Small, field sales agronomist showcased a nitrogen stabilizer unit being installed on a customer’s toolbar. Utilization of practices like nitrogen stabilizer are promoted as part of Iowa’s Nutrient Management Strategy.
