Morning Comments Jan. 2, 2019

Good morning and Happy New Year!

Grain trade is quiet this morning as we await the open at 8:30 am after the observed holiday yesterday.  Not much news in the headlines as South American weather outlooks are looking a bit more variable coming out of the holiday break, but no real production threats have emerged there for what is expected to be another early, bumper harvest down south.  These next few weeks will be interesting regarding the export market and how things shake out with China with South American beans readily available and cheapest in the marketplace.

Many still waiting to see how the government shutdown affects the big January USDA report and when it will be released.  The market will be watching closely for any news regarding the shutdown.

Our locations are open today after the holiday. If you deferred payment to 2019, they are ready for you to pick up. We are issuing more than $125 million in payments today.  Thank you for your business.
